Financial Controller - Birmingham - Permanent

Oliver William Recruitment is in search of a Financial Controller to help drive a rapidly growing manufacturing business based in the Birmingham area. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years post-qualification experience (ACA, ACCA or equivalent), excellent technical accounting knowledge and natural leadership qualities. The Group Finance Director is looking for somebody who can work closely with them to give further guidance and support to the board and ultimately the continued growth of the business. Some of the main responsibilities are as follows:
  • Support the companies reporting process, through timely and accurate financial information, monthly management reporting, statutory accounts and business performance reporting.
  • Oversee all company accounts and controls, ensure financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, reported and free from discrepancy to facilitate quick and efficient production of accurate financial reports and other management information
  • Oversee the balance sheet reconciliations, purchase/ sales ledger processing, credit control and payroll
  • Assist the Group FD with sales, profitability and management reports to be presented at board meetings, and at times stand in for the FD when he is out of the business.
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Management of small finance team including management accountants and financial assistants
  • Liaising with delivery team with regards to product costing

About you:
  • Chartered accountant with industry experience, preferably big four experience (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Up to date knowledge of FRS 102, VAT, Corporation tax rules etc
  • Resilient, credible and able to continue to adjust your approach within a growing environment
  • Ability to tailor financial communications to the appropriate audience
  • Ideally previous line management experience
  • Happy to travel overseas periodically

The organisation is looking to pay circa £55,000, possibly more for a candidate that already possess all the attributes required, and a competitive benefits package on top.
