This role is positioned within a Procurement team working on Bidding and Programmes within strategic captures and foundation sales opportunities. There is a strong emphasis on stakeholder interaction/engagement as well as working closely with bid and project teams in developing and executing effective Procurement strategies that lead to the winning of profitable new business.

The role is accountable for the ownership and execution of the subcontracting plan, incorporating preparation of the procurement strategy and documents, sourcing, data analysis and managing communication with suppliers and internal customers.

Managing prime contractor interfaces, risk mitigation (i.e. flow-up/down arrangements within prime contract) and flexibility within supply chain, including, supplier sourcing and selection through the make or buy process and appropriate leverage to deliver improvement, quality, performance, innovation and cost reduction.

Previous experience in: A large Defence organisation in a direct procurement capacity with experience in bids/programmes (projects)/tenders that support external customer bids.

The role, as part of the Group Procurement team, will be expected to lead other initiatives, when required, that contributes to functional and organisational goals.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Divisional Management Teams, Commercial teams, Business Management, Bid Managers, Capture Leads, Project Managers, Category Leads, Group Head of Procurement, other functional peers, internal customers, industry and professional bodies.

SCOPE OF ROLE: Opportunities across Cyber, Air, Maritime, Land & Training.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Direct customer campaigns, projects and programmes.
Building of strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.
Travel and attend meetings, as required within UK or internationally.
Provide guidance on best practice sourcing to the organisation.
Ensuring the provision of accurate cost information for bidding purposes.
Keep up-to-date about customers' needs and expectations.
Bid management to include development of sourcing strategy, stakeholder mapping and engagement, bid solicitation, contract negotiation and award, and on-going supplier governance.
Execution of sourcing plans, especially implementation of change programs involving new suppliers or spend practice.
Sourcing of one-off, high value goods and services.
Reporting against targets within Procurement and the business.

Seeking & harnessing innovative solutions from existing and future supply chain partners.
