Job Introduction

We are looking for an Underwriter to join our team in Ipswich.

To assess potential customers and their level of risk to the company, ensuring a minimum bad debt level whilst maintaining an acceptable pass rate.

As an underwriter you will be responsible for liaising with external customers and suppliers to approve credit facilities.
Some of What you'll be doing:
  • Raising problem accounts to a Risk Analyst
  • Assess applications in accordance with the Credit Policy
  • Identify information requirements and analysis needed
  • Assessing a suitable level of risk for new and existing customers and recommending suitable credit terms
  • Liaison with credit insurance company and insurance brokers
  • Deliver difficult messages to customers
  • Identification and accurate handling of fraudulent information and credit applications
  • Working within defined parameters to recommend credit limits and trading terms.
Knowledge & experience:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ideally experience of financial analysis and credit risk assessment
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer-literate, particularly in use of Excel
  • Outstanding teammate
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Able to make own decisions and to recognise when to seek support
