Security Application Support Engineer - Bournemouth

Our client is an award winning, dynamic and vibrant financial services provider, with a ground-breaking vision for the future.

They have a brand new vacancy for a Security Application Support Engineer to join their existing Information Security team.


You will be responsible for the support, configuration and maintenance of Information Security applications

Liaise with the Information Security, IT infrastructure and Business teams to maximise the systems and collaboratively achieve business and InfoSec objectives

You will be the SME/second line support for IT security applications

You will investigate and resolve technical issues and incidents

You will support the Information Security team in protecting the client and its member's data

You will ensure technical security controls are in place and functioning

  • Support and Manage the Security technical toolsets; become the SME for these tools and provide second line support
  • Mature the configuration of technical Security tools in line with business requirements
  • Be the liaison point with relevant internal as well as external teams
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Information Security posture
  • Engagement with projects/agile processes to ensure integration of the Information Security toolsets into upcoming initiatives
  • Lead on the management of incidents/issues relating to the Information Security toolsets, supporting investigations and incident response
  • Training and knowledge transfer with other Information Security team members and the wider IT teams
  • Strong communication skills; ability to articulate to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence stakeholders
  • Documentation of technical configuration, procedures and processes for the supported systems
  • Work closely with the Architects on the delivery of new security capabilities
  • Monitoring and reporting as required
  • Degree or Professional security qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA or equivalent technical qualifications or experience
  • 3+ years' experience in supporting enterprise-wide applications
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing/managing/supporting applications
  • Proven ability to learn and embrace new technologies
  • Sound understanding of IT infrastructure e.g. infrastructure, O/S, databases, Web, integration points, API's
  • Understanding of Information Security principles and frameworks, data protection and regulatory compliance (ISO27001, GDPR, FCA, PRA, ICO, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials)
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements; problem definition and solution identification
  • Experience of working with projects throughout the SDLC
  • Proven experience of influencing stakeholders at all levels
  • Vendor/supplier management and liaison
  • ITIL v3
  • Experience in the financial services sector (not essential)
  • Project management/business analyst skills
  • Knowledge/experience of implementing, supporting and managing Information Security applications; e.g. RBAC, PAM, DLP, VM,
  • Experience of Agile processes
