UKAEA requires an assistant management accountant to support the Finance Manager - Central & Property (FMCP) and the Fusion Programme Manager (FPM) with the provision of finance and accounting for the UK Fusion programme; currently the second largest programme area in the Authority. The role covers all the month and year end transactional processing, adjustments, and assisting with understanding and explaining performance. In addition, the role plays a key part in preparation of grant financial reports and supporting the audits of these grants and claims. This is an important role and the post holder will quickly develop a detailed understanding of all aspects of the UK Fusion programme accounting.

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment on behalf of the EU and is also home to the UK`s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built. Knowledge skills and experience

Essential
-Part-qualified accountant e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent experience
-Experience of using an accounting ERP system (Oracle, SAP, U4BW, Sage)
-Proficient in excel and ability to handle numeric data accurately

Desirable
-Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritise the workload
-Good written and oral communication skills
-Good attention to detail
-Experience of U4BW would be an advantage
-Ability to work as a team player & under their own initiative
-Able to interpret & present financial information to non-financial stakeholders

Special requirements:
