The Lancashire County Council School we are working with are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to help and support students with Social and emotional needs. The pupils are aged from 11-16 and have a range of additional needs including EBD and SEMH. The role would be specifically assisting in the vocational department supporting with Construction, DIY and Maintenance.
The School provide a high quality education for all students and this is enhanced by a caring and positive atmosphere in our school. They know that students learn more effectively if they feel valued, happy and secure. They are all extremely proud of the school and are committed to providing the very best possible education for all the young people that attend.

The position would be Full Time Monday to Friday 8.30am-4pm Term Time Only starting in September 2019 as a classroom assistant and maybe asked to work one to one or in small groups. The school are currently changing their curriculum and looking to create a new department for Construction as part of the curriculum.

The school are looking for someone with the following abilities.

1. Strong in dealing with behaviour
2. Clear communication
3. Able to support student and keep them on task during a lesson
4. You must be able to build strong working relationships with the students that you support.
5. Able to adapt behaviour strategies quickly and effectively to escalate and diffuse challenging situations that may arise.
6. A role model for the pupils someone they can relate and aspire to
7. Experience of supporting challenging students is an advantage but not essential however, you must show the willingness to learn and develop this skill.
8.Ideally a background in working in the building trade to be able to bring industry knowledge
