The Lettings Hub is the fastest growing tenant referencing and let insurance company in the UK. We may have started out small and cosy, but we are now considered one of the market leaders in our field, but we still offer the same level of personal service that got us where we are today. Nowadays, we help over 20,000 tenants move home every month and we are proud of what we have achieved in such a short time.

One of the many things our customers like about us is the fact we don't make promises we can't keep. Instead, our aim is to exceed their expectations and do it with a smile. Since first starting out in the business four years ago that principle hasn't changed.

Based in Peterborough, we believe in treating people the way we want to be treated - respectfully and inclusively - and investing in those we work with and partner. But our main goal is to help landlords and agents secure the best quality tenants for their properties in the shortest time possible and protect them against the risks involved.

We are seeking to appoint a Financial Controller at our site in Peterborough. If you're an experienced Finance professional, who would enjoy being part of an innovative business, then this could be a great opportunity for you.

Reporting to the CEO, this role involves ongoing work with the Board on future growth plans.

You will oversee a team of three, responsible for all financial operations across the business. This includes invoicing, issuing customer statements, credit control, cash management, calculation and payment of commissions, and the preparation and submission of monthly returns to insurers for insurance policies sold.

In addition to managing the team, the Financial Controller will monitor cash requirements daily, post the month-end journals, prepare monthly management accounts and client money reports, develop the annual budget, and provide ad hoc financial reports for the CEO and Board. The Financial Controller's responsibilities also include the preparation of the FCA regulatory returns, VAT returns and the annual R&D tax reclaim.

The successful candidate will be responsible for applying internal policies and procedures and complying with external policies including regulatory provisions, client money rules, banking mandates, PI insurance terms, insurer submission provisions and deadlines, and VAT regulations. This will involve developing and managing plans for improving systems and processes as well as designing interim solutions to address any financial risks arising from existing plans for the business and systems.

The role involves quarterly reporting to the Board, and liaison with the external accountants to prepare the annual statutory accounts for the two operating companies.

The preferred candidate will be a fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with strong hands-on accounting experience. You will need to bring a common-sense approach and commercial acumen to the role and be able to demonstrate a track record of success. With experience of operating and delivering results at a senior level, this is an exciting opportunity for a driven financial expert to take ownership within an organisation during an exciting period of growth.
