Communications Officer (Clean Streets)

Salary: £27,000-£28,000 per annum

Full Time: 40 hours per week

12 month fixed-term contract

Based at Albert Road, Bristol, BS2 0XS


We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to join our Community Engagement team, working specifically on the Clean Streets project. The role will be based across Bristol Waste and Bristol City Council sites and will involve working with communities across the city.

A key part of this is the clear need to influence behavioural change in the city, with a particular focus on Clean Streets activity including litter, graffiti and fly-tipping. We are committed to involving and empowering citizens, community groups and businesses so that, together, we can make Bristol a cleaner and greener place to live and work. Your role will be to educate, inform and inspire our residents about keeping Bristol clean and green through talks, tours, presentations, events, trials, troubleshooting and campaigns.

We are seeking to recruit a team player that shares our vision and values and can play a part in ensuring that we can achieve our strategic objectives, and those of our shareholder, Bristol City Council. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the company's marketing, communications and engagement activities as part of a dedicated team. The post-holder will have a specific focus on delivering engaging content for our website, managing our social media presence, developing newsletters and copy and working with the marketing officer and designers on tailored collateral such as leaflets and posters. We are keen that the company engages with, and represents, all the elements of the communities that we serve.

Requirements: It is essential to have experience working in a marketing or communications team, with knowledge of using social media. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal, and an ability to work to deadlines and manage time effectively.

Also essential for the post holder to have an aptitude for collaboration and cross team working, as well as being able to work on own initiative.

From a technical perspective, it is essential to have ITC skills and familiarity with standard packages such as MS Word, Excel and Power Point. Further holding a full, clean driving licence, valid for use in the UK is a must.
