We are therefore looking for two Trainee Technician candidates who are eligible to undertake a three year Apprenticeship programme in Construction and the Built Environment via the Leeds College of Building.

What we're looking for in our Trainee Technician (Highways & Engineering)

To qualify you must have already attained a BTEC Extended Diploma or Subsidiary Diploma, a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or two A Levels grade A* to E in complimentary subjects.

You will have experience of working successfully as part of a team and should possess good communication, negotiation, organisation and inter-personal skills.

You will also require an ability to understand and analyse plans at different scales as well as the ability to understand local and national policies, procedures and legislation relevant to the area of work, including Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

What you will be doing as our Trainee Technician (Highways & Engineering):

- Be trained in various aspects of Highways and Engineering, contributing positively to delivering the needs of the service.
- Participate in a formal training agreement to attend college on a day release / evening basis as determined by the course provider.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and statutory government returns, ensuring they are suitable for particular audiences.
- Provide a professional/technical responses to enquiries.
- Maintain complete and accurate computer records.
- Contributing, as required by management, to new initiatives and service improvements that contribute to a more effective and responsive service.
- Provide an appropriate response to enquiries from elected members, the public, agents, sub-contractors and/or applicants to the service.
