Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Hourly Rate: Up to £40.00 per hour (Ltd Co)

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Southampton

Are you a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with Autocad and Solidworks experience looking for your next challenge in your design career? Do you have experience of design of aircraft mechanical systems? If yes then look no further!

A rapidly expanding and growing Aerospace Company who are heavily involved with a number of exciting aerospace projects requires an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. Working on the cutting edge of the Aerospace and Defence sector with new technologies, you will be able to use your Mechanical Engineering skills to actively contribute to working on new aircraft designs and modifications.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:
  • Relevant Engineering qualification ideally within Aerospace
  • Strong background within design of mechanical aircraft systems
  • As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you should have a good understanding of the mechanical aspects of the entire aircraft including integration of electrical and avionics equipment
  • Previous experience as a mechanical design engineer, ideally in a senior capacity
  • Strong background in using a 2D CAD program
  • Previously worked to relevant aerospace and MOD standards. (00-970)
  • Compliance Verification Engineers (CVE Holders) are preferred

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Will be responsible for guiding and assisting the military technical support service, providing technical direction
  • Prepare and attend meetings biannually regarding structural, systems integrity and project safety
  • Satisfy project and specification requirements while maximising the application of standard concepts and keeping the design for manufacture and installation as a critical aspect in mind
  • Ensure compliance is met regarding client specifications to ensure the meeting of defence standards
  • Liaise with the design team ensuring that the military design still meets the civil aircrafts standards
  • Review and plan tasks, ensuring compliance is met, in particular providing direction for the teams output
  • Will act as a board and design signature when required
