Job Title:
  • Project & Continuous Improvement Manager - 12 month temporary contract

Job Purpose of the Project & Continuous Improvement Manager:
  • Initiate and manage improvement projects that drive world class performance achievement of KPI's
  • Develop and coach continuous improvement techniques across mini business units
  • Develop, maintain and communicate project plans to deliver project objectives
  • Manage project progression and liaising with all areas of the business to deliver project milestones
  • Responsible for delivering projects to specification, time and budget

Key Responsibilities of the Project & Continuous Improvement Manager:
  • Note: List the key accountabilities (usually limited to about 6 key accountabilities), by answering the statement, "What are the main areas in which this job must get results in order to achieve its purpose?" Answer the question by defining what is done, why it is done and what the results should be.
  • Project Initialization Set up projects as authorised according to existing procedures to include carrying out research, defining project objectives and scope, budgets and timing.
  • Project Planning and reporting Carry out project planning using Microsoft Project. Maintain project progress reporting at regular intervals.
  • Project Documentation Create, maintain and update the Design Brief, Technical Specifications, customer presentations, Quality Assurance (QA) Plan and other technical documentation as required.
  • Project Technical Requirements To determine raw materials, manufacturing processes, product assembly and storage methods appropriate to the project. Liaise with external component / material / services suppliers as needed by project.
  • Technical & Commercial Support To give internal & external product presentations. To assist in solving technical issues and problems. To initiate and attend external test programs at customer / prospects.
  • Supporting pre-sales stages Develop product design concepts. Provide models / prototypes for visual and / or testing purposes. Translate customer wishes into product characteristics and features.
  • Coordination of post-sales stages Provide technical support during and after product implementation at the customer. Handling and coordinating customer complaints

Dimensions (the key quantifiable measures/ metrics/ numbers related to this Job)

Financial:
  • To introduce new continuous improvements that deliver EBITDA benefit
  • To manage the process of project scoping and justification to support CAPEX
  • To ensure that project milestones are achieved and identified benefits are tracked and realised

Non- Financial:
  • To maintain the current project management processes.
  • To maintain records that demonstrate achievement of deliverables
  • To support Mini Business Units in problem solving, information requests etc.
  • To actively search for innovation.

Decision Making Authority (these are subject to the Policies, Procedures and Operating Practices which are defined by the company from time to time)
  • Organising own project work schedules
  • Developing Applications (in line with SA directives
  • Management of project activities in line with relevant approvals

Defining Work Process , Contact with others, and Organisational Context:
  • Projects may be allocated by Operations Director or as a result of a proposal from the Project & Continuous Improvement Manager or as part of a Project instigated by the UK Management Team
  • Project Managers will be managed by the Operations Director
  • Maintain close day to day working with UK based Mini Business Units
  • Communication will be required with all Mini Business Units

Special Working Conditions:
  • Make visits to other OpCo's as required by projects
  • Environment will be factory and office based

Equipment and IT Required:
  • Laptop, Docking Station, Smartphone, Microsoft Office Standard, Microsoft Project, 2D/3D CAD viewing software

Skills & Expertise:
  • Knowledge of plastics processing to include Injection Moulding, Blow Moulding, Welding, Extrusion and other technologies
  • Knowledge of processing equipment to include injection moulding machines, moulds and dies
  • Skilled in Lean Manufacturing Process
  • Management skills and experience in leadership
  • Project management.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Commercial and Market awareness
  • Customer service driven

  • Set high standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment

Salary:
  • Up to £50,000pa depending on experience
