Our client primary school in Harlow is looking for a confident Graduate to support a year 5 pupil with an education healthcare plan from September 2019.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role will see you supporting a specific child in year 5 working through the SEN department under the guidance of the SENCO. The student requires additional and individual support for their academic and self-development. You will be well supported by the SENCO and class teacher who will ensure that you have all the necessary knowledge and training to effectively support this student.

During the role you will gain training and build experience in methods of teaching, managing behaviour, and how to plan and deliver engaging, stimulating sessions designed to raise attainment, improve social interaction and class teaching accessibility. You will also learn how to track progress and alter education plans accordingly.

You will be joining an inclusive and supportive school where you will gain solid experience ahead of your chosen career path in education. The school would like to see dedicated and completely committed graduates with a passion for improving outcomes for children with learning difficulties.

The experience you gain from the placement will prepare you for future teacher training programmes and you will also be considered for a direct initial teacher training route by the school following the completion of your yearlong SEN Teaching Assistant placement. This is also an exciting opportunity for those graduates seeking the right experience on a pathway into educational/clinical psychology, speech and language therapy or counselling.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary | Person Specification:

• You must hold a 2:2 undergraduate degree or higher.
• Empathetic, Passionate, reliable and committed.
• Previous experience supporting special educational needs in any setting would be beneficial, but not essential as you will receive full training.
• Able to commit full-time (Monday - Friday) from September 2019 for the full academic year.
