My client, established over 20 years ago, is a family business that has experienced rapid growth with a very high retention rate of its staff. They are an outstanding British manufacturer creating iconic, traditionally designed products and employ over 150 Engineers and Technicians alongside an extensive support team.

Due to expansion they are now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Production team.

Summary of Position

This role offers a great mix of hands on work, together with the responsibility to establish and shape the future of Professional Maintenance at our busy Suffolk workshops. As our first full time maintenance role, this will give the successful candidate a unique blank canvas to establish the basics as well as develop and grow with the business as we compliment traditional manufacturing methods with modern manufacturing approaches.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Carry out breakdown and preventative maintenance

* Establish professional/preventative maintenance schedules to ensure we get the most from our equipment

* Work with the production team to establish and implement Autonomous maintenance

* Assist with the introduction of new equipment and processes

* Troubleshoot equipment/process problems to root cause, implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence of the problem(s)

* Work with the production team to improve machine/process performance in terms of safety, quality and performance (OEE)

* Establish and document ways of working and systems for maintenance

Technical Skills and Experience Required

* Proven multiskilled maintenance experience in a production environment

* Practical experience of TPM and development as appropriate

* PC Literate, with knowledge of MS windows applications (Excel & word)

* HNC/HND Engineering, NVQ Engineering Maintenance or equivalent experience

Behavioural Skills and Experience Required

* Must be practical with ability to work on own initiative

* Excellent problem-solving skills

* Be able to work independently under pressure and within a team environment

* Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written

* To have a flexible, can-do approach, be results orientated, self-motivated with drive and initiative

* Desire to progress within your role

* Ability to identify areas of improvement and implementation

* Enjoys developing ways of working and documenting approaches and records
