I'm working on behalf of a client based in the Bishop Auckland area on the appointment of a new Assistant Accountant.

Your manager describes the team as quick on their feet, friendly and committed - They like to do a job and do it well.

You'll be sitting within a small Finance team of 4 working closely with the Financial Controller within open plan office working and a busy environment / role.

Do you like to be given autonomy? Are you the type of person who will be proactive in taking responsibility?

This position will be very well suited to someone who has experience using ERP systems, can use Excel for reporting managing large volumes of data through pivots and v look ups and ideally has worked within a small company.

Manufacturing experience will be a distinct advantage as you've already had exposure within their industry.

I'm looking for someone hands on, with all round experience and a can do no job too small attitude.

Day to day will be varied ranging from accruals, prepayments, payroll input, pension, various reporting and month end duties.

• Posting Bank transactions and reconciling bank statements.

• Preparation of weekly bacs run for authorisation.

• Payroll admin to payroll outsourcing company and pensions admin.

• Updating rolling 13 week cash flow forecast.

• Raising and posting journals.

• Taking control of certain aspects of the month end close.

• Assisting with other aspects of the month end close.

• Completing Balance Sheet control account reconciliations, to ensure reconciling items are resolved on a timely basis and that integrity of the balance sheet is maintained.

• Assistance and Preparation of a variety of management reports in conjunction with the month end close. Variance analysis and reporting on variances.

• Assistance and Preparation of factory efficiency reports on a monthly basis and reporting on variances.

• Prepare and submit the UK VAT return on a monthly basis.

• Prepare and submit EC sales lists.

• Preparing the German VAT return on a monthly basis and submitting to BDO in Germany for submission to the German tax authorities.

• Audit assistance and Ad hoc projects/duties as required.
