Octavia Housing provides affordable homes in the heart of London. We develop, manage and maintain properties and provide a range of specialist support services to meet the diverse needs of our tenants. Our aim is to provide a service which is professional, personal, effective and caring.

Through our numerous shops around London we sell high quality donated and new goods, raising valuable funds to support our work with vulnerable and disadvantaged people.

The purpose of this post

To provide an efficient delivery and collection service to our charity shops across west London. To assist the Area Managers in the setting up and closing of charity shops.

What is the focus?:
  • Working closely with Team colleagues to enable excellent Customer Service

Key tasks
  1. To follow a daily/weekly goods distribution schedule to shops which will include transfers, stock delivery, rubbish collection and transfer of excess or out of season stock and to keep an accurate record of all deliveries and collections. Making sure all goods are signed for at all times. This may involve working some week-ends.
  1. To provide excellent customer service to all users of the service donors, customers and shop managers alike.
  1. To assist in the opening and closing of shops.
  1. To be responsible for the safe storage of fixtures and fittings and provide these to shops as and when required.
  1. To drive in a safe and responsible manner at all times
  1. To ensure regular service/maintenance is carried out on Octavia vehicles including oil, water and lubricant level checks.
  1. To ensure that Octavia vehicles are kept clean and tidy.
  1. To pick up collections from commercial or private addresses as requested by the Corporate Donations and Stock Manager.
  1. To ask personal donors to sign up for Gift Aid at the point of donation.
  1. To deliver all sundries, stationary and promotion materials in a timely manner to shops.
  1. To adhere to Health and Safety policy at all times.
  1. To take part in the Annual stock-take weekend
  1. Any other duties commensurate to the role.

Generic

How will the post holder know if they are performing?

A number of performance targets will be planned and agreed each year with the line manager and these will be monitored at regular meetings. Regular feedback will be provided by the line manager and opportunity provided to discuss any problems, personal and team matters and personal development issues.

Generic requirements

The post holder will be expected to comply with Octavia's and the department's policies and procedures at all times. These include, but are not limited to equal opportunities, confidentiality, data protection and health and safety.

In order to do their job the post holder will be trained and coached in the procedures and policies of Octavia. They will be expected to familiarise themselves with procedures and policies and to seek advice and guidance from the line manager if required.

The key tasks listed above are only an indication of the main tasks required to be performed. It is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities and may be subject to amendment to take account of changing circumstances. Any changes will be made following discussion with the post holder. The post holder will remain co-operative and flexible in line with the needs of the post and Octavia.

Experience of driving a Luton or similar vans.
