It's an exciting time to join, as in 2017 CAF celebrated its 100th year, and announced plans to build a new state-of-the art assembly hub in Newport. The new assembly hub is being designed to build a range of different trains, including diesel multiple units (DMUs), electric multiple units (EMUs), trams and high speed trains.

Job Summary

The Assistant Lead Engineer will act as the main Engineering interface with the Customer and other UK stakeholders in the design and approval process. For this duty, the Technical Project Manager will work closely with the Chief Project Engineer and the Design Team of the Engineering Department in the company's headquarters.

Supporting the Chief Project Engineer, he or she will coordinate all aspects of the design, implementation, testing and commissioning required to deliver the scope of the engineering project to satisfy fulfill Customer requirements while adhering to project budgets and schedules.

Key Responsiblities:-

Supporting the Chief Project Engineer to coordinate all aspects of the design, implementation, testing and commissioning required to deliver the scope of the engineering project to satisfy fulfill customer requirements while adhering to project budgets and schedules.

Being the main Engineering interface with the customer and other UK stakeholders.

Lead and coordinate the design review process to achieve the design approval according with project schedule.

Establish and maintain interfaces with other departments with relevant functions (Project management, procurement, training, safety, testing, etc).

Monitor, control and report monthly all product related aspects of the project consistent with the contract requirement, design approval, and established project management actions to attain established goals.

Follow-up pending issues to sort out the problems that arise during design, implementation, testing and commissioning activities.

Be fully familiar and conversant with Department and Company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance with them.

Qualification:

Bachelor's in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical)

Post Qualifications preferred

PM Qualification - PRINCE2, Agile, PMI, MSP - Desirable

Knowledge, skills, Experience:-



This role requires a minimum of two years' work experience with an interest to establish themselves within the rail industry and/or in a career as a Project Manager. You will have good team working skills with the ability to develop working relationships quickly and effectively and have the desire to develop existing skills and acquire new technical competencies to enhance personal and team capability.

Experiences in a similar role in the railway sector in Design Coordination / Management.
