Job Title: Legal Assistant

Location: Eastbourne

Salary: £16k-£18k depending on experience

Start date ASAP

Our client is a well-established legal firm, they are looking to recruit a Legal Assistant to provide direct support to the Principal to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency.

  • To prepare correspondence and documents including audio-typing and word processing in accordance with Case Management systems as appropriate.
  • To administer filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained on the Intranet.
  • To prepare mail and enclosures for despatch.
  • To arrange for all copying to be done, in person if the Office Junior is not available to undertake the task.
  • To make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up-to-date diary for his/her Principal.
  • To prepare the Conference Room for meetings as necessary and for the tidying and clearance of the room at the end of the meeting.
  • To provide refreshments when asked to do so.
  • To provide support to other assistants as required.
  • To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm's standards for client care.
  • To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.
  • Other duties commensurate with the post as designated from time to time by the Partnership.
  • To secure the confidentiality and security of the firm's client documentation and information

  • Audio Typing skills - Essential
  • Hold a minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics
  • Hold at least 2 years relevant and recent administrative experience
  • Good level of ICT experience particularly Microsoft Office
  • Excellent keyboard skills/word processing
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Well organised and efficient
  • Knowledge and understanding of the confines of confidential working
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Flexible and open to continuous change
