Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm, Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm
Salary: £45,000 Pro Rota

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, support, and work within Health & Safety regulations, Company Quality and Environmental systems of work, and all other Company policies and procedures
  • Working positively to develop and foster good working relationships with customers, colleagues and contracted personnel in order to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity
  • Support the development of the Product, Engineering & Technology team to produce high quality, cost effective solutions meeting customer and legislative requirements, and can apply engineering knowledge and principles to devise innovative solutions within manufacturing location capabilities
  • Support purchasing in actions of Obsolescence management and replacement with effective verification and validation procedures
  • Maintaining of Routings and BOMs as requested
  • Responsible for the on-time delivery of work from the section, supporting the Engineering Manager / Director in achieving business targets
  • Ensure the maintenance / auditing of the customer documentation and folder structure to adhere to the requirements of the business quality system
  • Exploration and investigation of new equipment and processes to support customer requirements and business growth opportunities
  • Ensure deliveries of conceptual design, layout, prototyping, bill of materials, mechanical and optical piece part drawings, assembly drawings
  • Support Design Reviews at key product development stages
  • Ensure close collaboration with value stream teams to design optimized products matching the sites manufacturing capabilities and those of the customer specification
  • Support Customer Service in their communications with external customers
  • Develop key networks with internal departments, customers, suppliers and other third-party service providers
  • Investigate production and process issues providing technical support both to the customer and the business and their suppliers
  • To train and support business in the understanding of product ranges and application
  • Proactively identify improvements and apply change management
  • Create and maintain common templates, configuration set-up and methodology across the global business


Experience, attributes & skills sought:
  • Relevant degree (Optics, Mech. Elect, Physics) or Working Experience matching expectations of role
  • Experience of managing / working within multidiscipline teams within a NPI environment
  • Results orientated
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Flexible approach to working to meet project deadlines
  • Proven capability to learn and implement new skills and processes
  • Attention to detail and understanding of the business environment
  • Ability / robustness to self-prioritise work packages within a dynamic agile NPI Environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer Development and Support
  • 3D design, modelling and 2D drawing creation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of Customer facing meetings and meeting their expectations
  • Exceptional level of numeracy, literacy, financial understanding
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Experience working within medium volume manufacturing (Aerospace, Defence, Industrial and life science sectors within AS9100 or Equivalent business management systems)
