IT Project Manager - 12 month contract

Work with the business teams to design and deliver system changes and ensure the eBusiness Solutions IT product delivers the desired business value and also translate these requirements into executable development requests for either local or global development teams.

Job Description

The MSC UK IT eBusiness product is fast evolving and your role will be to understand product development plans, product functionality and communicate these to the business leaders. Be the IT Project Manager on new systems or features and ensure business teams have all the understanding of what functionality is available to the customers and how this impacts day to day processes.

We believe the successful IT Project Manager should have the following skills:
  • Experience of managing full IT project lifecycle from idea through to hand-over to operational support
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to scope, define and deliver a programme of work, aligning and managing project objectives, tasks and deliverables
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple internal and external stakeholders, across functions and seniority levels
  • Advanced MS Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio)
  • APMP or Prince2 qualified
  • Great networker with an ability to communicate their ideas with this network
  • Analytical system thinker with experience in problem solving, project coordination and process modeling
  • Result-oriented multitasker who works in a structured way, documents and takes personal responsibility
  • Ability to work within a constantly changing environment with both the ability to plan ahead but adjust those plans, when required (be agile)
  • Ambitious and committed, possessing a strong work ethic and a will to succeed

The key tasks for the IT Project Manager are:
  • Use good judgment and skill to develop a project management approach that is suitable for planning and managing the effort to achieve the project goals within designated project constraints, potentially blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile delivery approach in the right proportion to fit different sizes of project
  • Project Planning and Management - Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organise and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned project
  • Project Team Management - Provide a supportive approach whilst holding teams accountable for their commitments, leveraging organisational resources to improve capacity for project work
  • Stakeholder management and engagement - Ensure the relevant and most appropriate stakeholders are engaged, managed and communicated to effectively
  • Ensure that required deliverables are produced, whilst seeking to expand understanding and minimise friction
  • Share insights, in relation to the product abilities, vision and roadmap, throughout the business
