I am working with a Special School in Warrington to recruit a KS2/KS3 Teacher with a specialism in Autism. The school specialises in SEMH, but is expanding to include an ASC provision in September.

-Main Responsibilities

The post requires that you should take an appropriate share of the responsibilities attached to teachers generally within the school in connection with the teaching and supervision of pupils, the preparation and marking of their work, and the promotion and recording of their progress and welfare. You will work under the reasonable direction of the Principal/Head of Education, whose responsibility it is to ensure that a reasonable balance in the work load of each teacher is maintained.

• To identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate challenge and high expectations.
• To maintain good order and discipline among the pupils, safeguarding their health and safety and to follow agreed discipline and reward procedures.
• Use a variety of methods and approaches to meet the range of pupil's needs, and ensure equal opportunity for all pupil's
• To plan opportunities to develop the social, emotional and cultural aspects of pupil's learning.
• To maintain a regular system of monitoring, assessment, record-keeping and reporting of children's progress.
• To ensure effective use of support staff within the classroom.
• To participate in staff meetings as required.
• To be part of the whole school team, actively involved in decision-making on the preparation and development of policies and programmes of study, teaching materials, resources, methods of teaching and pastoral arrangements.
• To ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice.
• To communicate and consult with parent/carers over all aspects of their children's ASC needs, education- academic, social and emotional.
• To mark, and record, work appropriately adhering to the school marking policy.
• To set, mark and monitor homework as appropriate.
• To assess, monitor and report on pupil progress according to school policy.
• To contribute to the development of schemes of work and assessment materials as required.
• To complete form tutor reports twice a year.
• To organise or take part in regular department meetings.
• To organise tutorials with individual pupils.

• Have a thorough and up to date knowledge and understanding of the latest research and approaches for working with autistic pupil's

The successful candidate will;

• Have experience of SEND and complex difficulties, ASC
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
• Have high expectations of achievement and behaviour
• Be able to enthuse and motivate the pupils in your care
• By fully committed to making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged pupils
• Be able to demonstrate that they are a creative and highly effective classroom teacher and have the ability to create a stimulating learning environment
• Be willing and have the ability to; raise standards within a broad and balanced curriculum
• Be flexible, hard-working and have a good sense of humour
• Be willing to undertake ongoing training opportunities in order to develop personal knowledge of the SEMH sector
• Be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all our pupils
