Due to continued success and growth, we are now looking to recruit a Landfill Gas Technician for our Elsenham Landfill team in Bishop's Stortford.

The Role

Joining our team, the Landfill Gas Technician will undertake the safe and effective monitoring and balancing of gas collection systems (GCS) in order to optimise Viridor's landfill gas resource for regulatory compliance and for commercial benefit through power generation.

You will carry out other monitoring, analysis, record keeping and reporting on the status of gas collection systems and associated control and utilisation equipment such that process control and health is optimise.

The Landfill Gas Technician will be responsible for the upkeep and calibration of all plant, equipment and tools used in monitoring, balancing and maintenance of landfill gas management assets in line with routine and planned preventative maintenance schedules. You'll ensure that spare parts and consumables are available when required.

You'll be required to participate in a call out rota to provide cover for work that is required at the weekends, and outside of normal working hours.

The ideal Landfill Gas Technician:

  • An understanding of the operation and basic maintenance of landfill gas power generation and control equipment
  • Good level of education coupled with relevant practical experience in a related environment
  • Experience of working in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work to deadlines and constantly juggle priorities
  • Tactful, strong and resilient in demanding situations
  • Ideally, a proven track record of the successful compliance management and optimisation of leachate collection, treatment, disposal and control
  • Full UK driving licence
