Salary: £65,000 - £70,000

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Proposal Manager on behalf of one of our clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the end to end proposal process, from preparation to receiving the customer tender documentation. You will not be writing the proposal but managing and overseeing people to ensure delivery.

The successful candidate will be a driven and experienced bid / project manager with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective bid and proposal management plans in order to deliver win strategies and secure business.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Proposal Manager is responsible for managing a multi-disciplined company wide Bid Team.
  • Support the Capture Leader in developing a capture strategy that offers a differentiated customer-focused solution.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing the Bid Management Plan with primary responsibility for Bid governance compliance, the management of proposals and associated reviews.
  • Ensure ITT requirements are identified and addressed, determines appropriate proposal document structure and manages story boarding and win theme development activities.
  • Drive the Bid/Proposal team in developing a cost effective solution that meets price to win and design to cost targets
  • In coordination with the Capture Manager, selects reviewers and schedules/organises key proposal reviews to assure proposal material quality, compliance and consistency across the proposal and associated plans.
  • Manage the business approval process, scheduling all governance reviews and coordinating the production of governance review documentation.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • A strong Defence/Aerospace background with understanding of the UK MoD requirements, definitions and procurement processes.
  • Must have prior experience in the "Award" tool that the MOD use for submitting proposals.
  • Proven experience in the management of tender bids, understanding of customer evaluation and procurement methods and software.
  • Previous Pricing & Estimating Experience.
  • Highly collaborative style with ability to respond quickly and effectively to ever changing situations.
  • Possesses strong business acumen and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Effective leadership of the bid process and development of bids.
  • Good commercial judgement.
  • Ability to communicate with a range of people at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Client and customer focused in order to build productive relationships.
  • Ability to make reasoned and informed judgements and decisions.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Extensive experience of scoping, bidding and coaching sales teams for success.
  • Bid writing experience & skills -- ability to create winning proposals through story boarding, creating differentiation, self-scoring etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
  • A positive, proactive approach. You will bring your creativity, tenacity and energy to the role.

Desired:
  • APMP (Bid & Proposals Management) - Foundation OR Practitioner Level (Desirable, not essential).
