Hours: Tuesday & Thursday 2pm - 10pm, Saturday 6am - 6pm, Sunday 6am - 10pm

Salary: £22,800 - 24,000 p/a subject to experience

Further shifts available which could potentially boost salary to circa. £30K

Main purpose of job:

As an Assistant Manager you will play an instrumental role in the daily operations of our store. You will be required to manage a busy team using your own initiative and accepting delegated responsibility from Senior Management.

You will have responsibility for the site, direct colleagues to ensure that Health & Safety and cleanliness standards are maintained and will be responsible for inventory and money control systems via the tills and EPOS.

You will help drive the team to exceed all customer expectations through your passion and desire for providing our customers with a great customer experience, fully ensuring that you are satisfying and maximizing your customer needs. You will lead from the front and be a real 'hands on' Assistant Manager.

Key tasks and main duties

Finance and Banking
  • Check validity and approval of paid out till receipts
  • Provide management with any required document/ system support reports

Business & Retail Acumen
  • Cooking hot for to go and maintaining stock and waste
  • Booking in stock and out stock and creating new lines
  • Maintain and implement merchandising standards including stock levels, presentation and price labeling via your merchandiser
  • Conduct stock checks of all high value stocks such as tobacco, car care, alcohol and lottery products weekly and full stock count of all products on a quarterly basis reporting any variances to senior management

Site Standards
  • Ensure cleanliness of all areas of the forecourt and pumps are clean and include towels, gloves and bins (max. half full)
  • Checking all areas of the site are both secure and free from hazards to prevent near misses or incidents. Reporting whenever these occur to senior management.
  • Responsible for the checking of temperature records in the legal diary and investigating any issues or major variances, taking the appropriate corrective action
  • Responsible for the checking of equipment, cash machine, lottery, coffee machine and investigating any issues or major faults, taking the appropriate corrective action
  • Check current fuel volumes, stock at site and delivery / order plans to meet with target fuel stock holding - ordering as and when necessary
  • Ensure legal signage in connection with Challenge 25 regulations are in place for lottery and tobacco products and colleagues are keeping record logs up to date
  • Work alongside your team, handling deliveries, stocking shelves and helping out on the tills when required
  • Unlocking and locking the site and security
