The Systems Engineer will provide remote and on-site, second/third line technical support to all Cegal clients as part of a small IT Consulting team. Utilising their technical expertise and knowledge, inline with internal systems and service management toolsets, to diagnose problems, identify trends, manage systems and implement system changes. They will act as a technical point of escalation for the service desk and respond, diagnose and fix technical problems. Work tasks and responsibilities:
  • Provide technical advice and support to Cegal customers to manage their needs and deliver a world-class service.
  • Understand urgency and impact of individual tickets in order to priorities workload.
  • Ensure tasks are delivered on time and within Service Level Agreements.
  • Analyse technical issues, diagnose and resolve technical problems.
  • Be involved in technical deliveries and technical projects for client implementations / upgrades.
  • Administer client infrastructure and endpoint devices as part of managed services provision.
  • Ensure the root cause of any problems are found and best practice resolutions are implemented.
  • Provide on-going maintenance, system checks, security set up and support.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies (especially cloud technologies) and identify best use cases for customers.
  • Maintain high levels of incident ownership through the incident lifecycle to a satisfactory client resolution.
  • Liaise with external service providers to resolve incidents and complete service requests.
  • Maintain knowledge of client environments, operating systems, standard applications, and computer hardware solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous service improvement across the service portfolio.
  • Maintain documentation relating to all client sites, infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Participate in out-of-hours standby rota as part of the 24-hour service requirement.

Qualifications and requirements:
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Good understanding of ITIL processes and service management best practices
  • Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Current Microsoft or other relevant vendor accreditations or be able to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Service-Now (ITSM tool)
  • At least 3 years' experience in IT service operational environment
  • Experience working on a multi-tenant cloud platform or for a managed service provider
  • Experience with backup products such as Symantec, Backup EXEC, Datto, Veaam, etc.
  • Good knowledge of the network stack - routing, Firewall, DNS etc.
  • Knowledge of SSL certificates
  • Broad knowledge of core Microsoft technologies, and Cloud services
  • Detailed knowledge of desktop and server hardware maintenance and components
  • Working knowledge of Remote Working / Mobile Computing
  • Excellent customer facing skills
