We are recruiting a NPI Lead Machining Engineer for a leading 1st tier automotive manufacturer.

Overview

This is a great opportunity to join a rapidly expanding 1st tier automotive supplier.

Experienced CNC Machining Engineer required to develop the future Machining facility within the facility including Process time evaluation / feasibility, CNC Programme Creation / Optimisation & prove off, supporting procurement of new equipment, and ability to co-ordinate the introduction of new machinery and supporting equipment into the facility. Support for prototype builds, customer engineering change requests, cost down improvements & standardising documentation will also be required

Key Tasks/Responsibilities

Knowledge required to support machining feasibility, process time, process layout definition, fixture design & tooling selection.

Create estimated process times to support the quotation phase. Create CNC programs for new products be introduced. Optimise CNC programmes when required.

Support industrial engineers regarding the optimise cell layout including TPM instructions, layout defined, 5S equipment in place, correct lighting and documentation.

Complete pre-and final buy off at supplier.

Support the PPAP project requirements, including creation of bills of materials process flows, PFMEAs.

New project implementation. Communication and presentations both with customers and internal personnel required.

Provide timing for machining milestones and activities for project timing plan.

Reporting CNC machines/fixturing project status.

Supporting the project manager during project introduction phase.

Escalate issues that could potentially undermine the program.

Ensure assembly/customer build milestones are achieved. Identify schedule improvement opportunities. Create and monitor timing against supplier plans and feed back to project manager

Experience / Qualifications Required

Proven background in CNC machining process, ideally with Aluminium machining background on CNC vertical spindle machinery. Individual should have introduced new products into a machining facility from initial quotation through to PSW approval.

Current driving license, as travel to customers and suppliers will be required as and when necessary. Ability to support foreign travel as and when required and have a valid passport (Minimum of six months remaining)

- Developing programs for new parts on three, four, and five axis machines.
- Ability to access designs and provide feedback to the customer regarding manufacturing feasibility & design for manufacture
- Develop & approve fixture design and processes for production of parts.
- Develop tooling with machine suppliers and tooling suppliers for product optimisation & setup in facility
- Continuous improvement initiatives of existing awarded parts.
- Experienced in introducing new CNC Machinery & automated cells into a facility
- Ability to CNC programme using a Varity of systems such as Siemens, Fanuc, Mazatrol etc.
- Support & co-ordinate operator training & development.
- Monitoring supplier timing
- Understanding of machine capability analysis
