Legal Team Manager

Location: Pinner, HA5 5NE

Salary: £63,000-£70,000, plus company performance related bonus

Hours of Work: 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday

Our client is the independent promotional verification specialists - they use their care, knowledge, expertise and passion for detail to ensure that all types of prize promotions via whatever medium are shaped and delivered fairly, securely and in compliance with the law and general best practice. In this way they protect both the interests of the brand, their creative agencies and also the consumer, who with increased confidence about the fair operation of the promotion, would be more likely to participate.

So, on a day to day basis they are busy advising and influencing the development of on pack offers, judging competitions, running prize draws, implementing 'Willy Wonka' style instant wins and overseeing voting for major TV shows. Their client base includes Pepsi, Walkers, ASOS, Barclays, HTC, Pringles, Kellogg's and over 200 more with a large part of work coming from projects run overseas - 60+ countries in 2019 alone.

Established in 2002, the company is based a 1-minute walk from the Tube station in leafy Pinner, North London, about 25 minutes from Baker Street on the Metropolitan line.

Due to continued expansion they are seeking to fill an important and challenging role in our Legal Team.

Legal Team Manager Responsibilities:
  • Directly line manage and mentor 3 x Legal Executives, overseeing quality, timeliness, resourcing and good client liaison.
  • Drafting legal documentation such as the more complex Terms & Conditions.
  • Quality assure work of the Legal Team.
  • Seek improvements in client service, efficiency and profitability.
  • Work with internal client team stakeholders to define projects and identify the most appropriate project delivery approach.
  • Assist client teams with selling legal services to clients.
  • Plan and implement a programme of continuous education to keep team up to date.
  • Work with legal partners outside of the UK to achieve maximum value and maintain our knowledge of global promotional marketing law.

Legal Team Manager Requirements:
  • A qualified solicitor with at least 5 years commercial experience (in house or law practice)
  • A pragmatic approach to commercial law
  • Ability to work out a way of saying 'Yes', when most others would be saying 'No'
  • Experience of coaching and developing junior legal staff members
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Good standard of IT knowledge i.e. Microsoft Packages, CRM system
  • At least 2 years' experience of Line managing several staff members concurrently
  • Experience of working across different jurisdictions in a professional services environment (Desirable)
  • Experience of supporting marketing campaigns (Desirable)
  • Project Managing business changes (Desirable)
