A contract (3 months plus) for a Category Manager has arisen with the local authorities in Sandbach.

You will develop and promote innovative approaches to procurement, with direct involvement in setting up new methods of service delivery, to achieve best value in procurement for Cheshire East Council.

The Category Manager is responsible for the development of a cohesive category strategy and sourcing plans for several categories of spend and leading strategic procurement exercises - to ensure Value For Money is optimized and that the category is compliant with Council policy and procurement legislation while also generating cashable savings to Cheshire East Council on present procurement activities.

Skils and Experience:
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing Supply qualified (MCIPS).
  • Substantial experience of procurement and contract management in a large, complex organisation preferably within the Childrens and Adults category area.
  • Excellent knowledge of public procurement policy and legislation and the rationale underpinning it.
  • A proven track record of managing commissioning and purchasing exercises in a large organisation.
  • A thorough understanding of UK and EU Finance and Procurement Law.
  • High levels of interpersonal skills such as communication, negotiation, positively challenge, influencing, persuasiveness.
  • IT literate - Microsoft Office Suite.

Hours of work are 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.
