The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead an engineering development project of a moderate size and level of complexity, responsible for technical and process compliance, recurring and non-recurring costs, adherence to agreed program and project milestones throughout the project life cycle

Key Accountability;
  • Accountable for technical quality of electronics covering the entire product development process.
  • Responsible for achieving performance, reliability, safety and product cost requirements.
  • Ensure tasks and timescales are realistic and bought into by the team.
  • Responsible for engineering resource delegation.
  • Managing the efforts of a team of hardware engineers to the program to deliver customer expectations.
  • Interfacing with customer on technical performance and program compliance issues.
  • Delivering on engineering milestones.
  • Provision of status reporting and updates to both internal/external stakeholders
  • Manage risk and associated mitigation activities
  • Compiling and collating documentation.

The ideal candidate;
  • A Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • Extensive Design experience esp. rotating equipment, shaft, bearings seals, structures etc.
    Experienced state of the art 3D CAD software.
  • An understanding of product development process
  • Planning & risk mitigation ability
  • Delegation & supervision ability
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent customer facing skills
  • An understanding of product design and development costs (Non-Recurring Costs)
  • Comfortable with presenting to internal/external stakeholders
  • Must be organised and have excellent time & project management skills
  • An understanding of Airworthiness requirements & Certification process

This Lead Mechanical Engineer opportunity is based in Pitstone (Aylesbury/Leighton Buzzard) and commutable from areas within, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and London.
