IT Infrastructure Engineer / Team Leader (3rd Line Support, VMware, Veeam) - Huntingdon - £38,000 to £45,000 - Ref: J2414

We have a new opportunity for an IT Infrastructure Engineer / Team Leader to join an internationally renowned manufacturer. The successful candidate will be leading a small team of 3rd line engineers. The team are responsible for the following core technologies across multiple sites both in the UK and internationally: Microsoft Server and Client, Microsoft Systems Centre (management, ticketing, monitoring and automation), VMware, Cisco (LAN, Wi-Fi and WAN) and Veeam.

This is a hands-on role providing 3rd line Datacenter support to ensure the entire groups infrastructure runs securely and efficiently while driving forward new technologies. This includes the end to end delivery of new virtual and physical commissioned servers and technologies.

The ideal candidate will have great knowledge of VMware and Veeam ideally gained within a data centre or similar environment. Prior experience as a Team Lead / Assistant Manager is preferred, although we are happy to consider applications from Engineers looking to make the step up.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of most of the following:
  • Previous experience in a Team leader type role
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven experience of VMware vSphere 6.0 and upwards is essential
  • SAN (storage) technologies - knowledge of HP P4500, VSA, and vSAN is an advantage
  • Server maintenance, AV updating, auditing, security compliance
  • Backup and disaster recovery
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2016.
  • Experience with Server 2012R2/2016
  • Diagnose, analyse and resolve software and hardware issues related to core Microsoft infrastructure.
  • Experience of Liaising with other IT teams, Architects and Project Managers.
  • Being able to apply hardware and operating system configurations to meet design specifications is essential.
  • Have experience of providing recommendations to improve existing operational processes and procedures.

Other desirable (non-essential) skills, knowledge and experience include:
  • O365, Exchange, SharePoint, Azure AD
  • Certificate services
  • Cisco LAN and ASA firewall
  • System Center CM, SM, OM, administration/configuration
  • ISO 27001
  • Accreditations such as MCSE, CCNA, ITIL or VMware
