Internal Accounts Assistant - Part Time - Chartered Accountants

£8-£12 per hour according to experience

Part-Time 12-15 hours per week
Flexible hours, ideally over 3-4 days and during normal office hours (8:45am - 5:15pm)

Note: Candidates will be local to Eastleigh, Southampton, and hold a full driving license.

We are a forward-thinking firm of Chartered Accountants and business advisors, with offices in Eastleigh, Andover, and Basingstoke. We require a friendly and confident accounts assistant for our Eastleigh office.

Working in the Internal Accounts Department, reporting to the Internal Accounts Supervisor, Finance and Credit Directors.

To process employee expenses, produce serviced office rent invoices, processing of purchase ledger invoices, general client account, basic credit control including client statements, setting up of payments on internet banking, assisting with month end routine and to assist the Internal Accounts Supervisor where required.
To also provide cover for holidays.


+ Purchase Ledger - Monitoring of accounts receivable emails, downloading invoices where required, emailing and scanning of invoices into approval software. Managing processing of invoices through the approval software. Inputting of BACS payment onto banking software, posting of supplier payments and remittance advices onto accounting software and filing paid invoices
+ Processing expenses and input onto accounts software, entering disbursements, maintenance of spread sheet and input onto banking software for payment
+ Preparing some invoices for clients on the accounting software and distributing invoices
+ Maintaining the general client account spread sheet. Client accounts are to be reconciled monthly
+ Running of monthly statements and Aged Debtor reports for the Internal Accounts Supervisor
+ Basic credit control assistance with emails, letters, statements etc
+ Arranging ad hoc payments and transfers on accounting and banking software as required
+ Cover for Supervisor during holidays to include inputting of receipts/payments onto accounting software and setting up of supplier payment run
+ Month end preparation and cover to run month end as required
+ Any other duties as required

Professional Attributes:

The skill areas that are essential are:

+ Excellent communication skills both oral and written
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft office including Excel and Word
+ Understanding of and preferably experience of working in accounts
+ Problem solving, proactive thinking

The skill areas that are desirable are:

+ Familiarity of Sage and Iris and Xero
+ Internet banking
+ Commercial awareness

Along with strong communication and organisational skills for this position, you will require the ability to work on your own initiative and have thorough knowledge of MS Word and Excel. We will train you in the use of our in-house systems.
