About Eversheds Sutherland:

The role sits in the Commercial Finance team which supports the UK Practice Groups and the firm's International Offices. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager for Client and Sectors, and forming part of a wider team comprising 12 Finance Managers and Analysts in the UK with a further 8 team members located internationally. This role will provide support to the teams managing our growing list of clients with whom we have complex commercial arrangements.

Main purpose of the role
- to work alongside the Connect team to ensure robust financial and commercial management of the commercial contracts by relying and utilising the information from this team. The Finance Contract Manager will work closely with the Partners managing these client relationships to provide insight into financial performance of these contracts identifying risks within them and options to mitigate. They will need to interact closely with Connect operations team to ensure the information is accurate and complete.

Key responsibilities:
  • Analysis and forecasting - using available information to identify account performance compared to pricing projections, projected profitability and reporting these to the client board. Making recommendations based on this information to drive profitability of these accounts.
  • Providing detailed understanding of the financial impacts of the contract with the client and implications of the SLA and KPIs which must be adhered to and assisting with client relationship management.
  • Drafting internal communication on contract performance
  • Provide client reporting to help the firm become the trusted legal advisor by providing insights on how they drive efficiency and control of cost
  • Control and reporting - ensuring relevant financial controls are in place, approving payments and ensuring internal and external reporting is timely and accurate.
  • Educating the fee earners working on the relevant accounts, how they have been priced and working with them to ensure the most efficient delivery model is used to deliver the work.

Skills and experience:

The individual will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ CIMA / ACCA / International equivalent or through experience) and be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience in providing financial oversight to the execution and delivery of commercial services through framework agreements
  • Ability to influence key business strategies and initiatives. Can take a strategic view of the business and impact on Finance to improve and deliver a proactive service
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills with an ability to write insightful financial and commercial commentaries based upon sound financial analysis under demanding deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of management information systems (including Excel) and making best use of these for reporting purposes. Experience of Elite would be an advantage.
  • Build credibility and confidence of senior business leaders
  • Highly organised approach with the ability to prioritise
  • Willingness to engage with the business at a variety of levels from the strategic to dealing with operational issues and queries as needed, from high level analysis to more detailed work
  • Service oriented with experience of stakeholder management & the potential to establish a polished reputation in the business quickly
  • Ability to see things from the business leaders point of view in order to be customer centric when thinking about the finance teams delivery.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and have a 'can do' approach
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience and ability in understanding complex and diverse business requirements
  • Experience and ability in building strong working relationships and influencing at all levels, highly adept at stakeholder management.
  • Shows openness to changing demands while adopting a professional and creative mindset to finding solutions to these
