Role
  • Financial planning and analysis - Work with the Financial Controller in the creationof annual budgets and forecasts. Review investment analysis to support board decisions on capital purchasing. Be responsible for the monitoring and reporting of capital projects. Assess customer project profitability.
  • Statutory accounts preparation and audit - Take the lead in ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of annual statutory accounts. Prepare for the annual audit and be the key on-site day to day lead working with the external audit team.
  • Corporation tax lead - Be responsible for the preparation of corporation tax papers for review by the company tax advisors. Work closely with the external tax advisors to provide data and analysis of revenues and costs to complete the company's annual R&D tax claim. Support non-financial managers within Arcinova to understand the tax implications of activities on site.
  • Internal control and system development - As Arcinova is a growing business the demands on the internal control environment are rapidly changing. Lead the design and implementation of robust and appropriate financial controls within the business. On an ongoing basis monitor and adjust (where appropriate) the internal controls in the business. Ensure the integrity of all IT systems used by finance. Including the financial package, ERP and CRM systems.
  • Contract review - Support the growth of the business by reviewing customer contracts to ensure they are compliant with the company's risk matrix.
  • Other key duties - Support the Financial Controller in the production of timely and accurate management accounts, including quarterly bank covenant testing. Support non-financial management in the production of grant applications and preparation for grant claim submissions and audits. Provide financial knowledge and support to all finance and non-finance staff as required. Ensure work is conducted in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, internal policies/procedures and client requirements where appropriate. Work with due regard to health & safety of self & others.

Requirements
  • Educated to a minimum of fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA or ACCA)
  • A driven accountant, with the highest integrity, who has the ability to identify and solve problems
  • Comfortable working independently without close supervision and with the initiative and interpersonal skills to be an effective and versatile team member
  • Ability to articulate a customer-focused attitude, using strong presentational skills and developing interpersonal rapport
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach to juggling and managing a multitude of tasks, consistently to a deadline a wide range of duties
  • You should be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with a high level of personal integrity and commitment
  • Strong IT literacy, with a genuine understanding of Excel, in depth knowledge of Microsoft office software is essential
