Research Controls & Systems Integration Engineer - Peterborough - up to £51,500 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Key Responsibilities of the Research Controls & Systems Integration Engineer
  • Build, validate and optimise Controls Orientated Models across multiple execution platforms
  • Coordinate with software and control specialist to develop embedded controls architectures, interfaces and physical test and simulation tools, within a wider end to end controls system and powertrain development process
  • Coordinate with the design specialists and test facility (internal or external) to ensure mechanical and electrical components are fit for purpose and available for test on time
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams (Physical test, Controls, Multi-scale modelling etc) to support continuous improvement of embedded controls and the powertrain development process
  • Validation of implemented code through SiL, HiL, on test bench and with-in demonstrator applications

Key skills & experience required of the Research Controls & Systems Integration Engineer
  • Requires an accredited engineering degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience and excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret data, identify quality issues and understand performance interactions
  • Have a high level of competency in the use of data-analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Minitab, Matlab/Simulink etc.)
  • Understand requirements of embedded controls models, HiL and Hierarchical Model Interface (HMI) methods
  • Demonstrate knowledge of implementation of control strategies into production systems
  • Understand underlying theoretical principles of embedded control systems
  • Be familiar with modelling of complex systems, including at least some of: Physics based differential and difference-based systems, empirical modelling, system or parameter identification
  • Be able to define test instructions understanding test bed control, instrumentation and data-logging
  • Be able to lead the build of and validation of electrical systems within test cell and machine systems
