Description

SQL Database Administrator - Cheshire - Investment and Banking

The key responsibility of this role is to be responsible for the management and maintenance of the various SQL Server database environments from a DBA perspective. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the SQL Server infrastructure is fit for purpose paying particular attention to security, performance, and high availability. There are opportunities to work on other database technologies such as PROGRESS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB. A background within financial services would be an advantage

Profile

This role requires an experienced DBA who is well-versed in supporting the availability of sensitive data in a 24/7 live environment. From a technical perspective we are looking to identify the following skills and experience:
  • Strong and recent experience of designing, building , managing and monitoring SQL Server 2012 - 2016 instances and databases in a complex, 24/7/365 mission critical environment.
  • Strong understanding of T-SQL with previous programming experience with the ability to performance tune code for maximum efficiency and to provide feedback to developers.
  • PowerShell programming experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience in Microsoft SSRS; SSIS.
  • Strong working knowledge of monitoring tools such as Redgate; SQL Sentry etc.
  • Practical experience of using High Availability and Disaster Recovery components; Windows Clustering; SQL Server Log Shipping and Mirroring; Always-On (High Availability)
  • Knowledge of Backup and Recovery techniques using SQL Server Backup/Restore
