We are recruiting for a Deputy Nursery Manager in the Preston area. This is a permanent position for 40 hrs per week.
£17k - 19k per annum
This is a room based role working mainly in the toddler room.

In order to be considered for the role of Deputy Nursery Manager in Preston you will need:

- A passionate and positive attitude towards working with children
- A full and relevant child care qualification (Level 3 or above)


- To fulfil the role of Nursery Deputy Manager in the nursery.
- To assist in ensuring that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
- In the absence of the manager to undertake the overall day-today management of the nursery.
- To assist the manager in ensuring that all legislation in relation to Ofsted registration, special needs, safeguarding and Health and Safety is complied with and that company policies and procedures are adhered to.

- To assist the manager with the effective day to day management of the nursery.
- To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery.
- To assist the manager in setting and implementing objectives and policy for the nursery.
- To promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to both parent's staff and visitors.
- To assist the manager in showing parents around the Nursery facilities and sending out information.
- To ensure the provision of high standards of physical and emotional care.
- To lead a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times.
- To assist the Manager with all day to day paperwork within the nursery.
- To promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers.
- To support the manager and staff during Ofsted Inspections and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
- To assist with the planning and organisation of staffing schedules and holiday rota's to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Local Authority guidelines and nursery procedures.
- To assist with the implementation of administrative procedures involved with, registration, place allocation, and other related matters.

Childcare and Education

- To act as room supervisor in a specific area of the nursery.
- To promote high standards of quality within the nursery regarding the environment and resources for children, experiences offered to children and planning and record keeping.
- To assist in the implementation of 'The EYFS'.
- To promote and facilitate partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
- To support the development of good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion.
- To work with the Childcare and Education team to continuously improve quality of childcare and education.
- To ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand and when necessary follow Safeguarding Procedures.
- To ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with.
- To work with area SENDCo's, advisory teachers, health professionals, local Sure Start programmes as appropriate.
- To comply with all relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 and 2004 and company policies and procedures at all times.
- To develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority Departments, OFSTED and other agencies.
- To remain abreast of current developments in childcare and education policy and practice.
- To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to met the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
- To ensure confidentiality of information received.


- To assist the manager in monitoring and budgets and maintaining petty cash systems.
- To assist the manager with the collection, recording and banking of fees.


- To assist the manager with the recruitment induction procedure of all new staff.
- To support and supervise all staff with their day to day duties.
- Maintaining staff awareness of fire drill in accordance with the code of practice.
- To attend monthly staff / planning meetings and training sessions outside working hours.
- To assist with staff development and training.
- To assist the manager in the supervision of training of students in placement within the nursery.
