Lifelong Learning Library Adviser
Central Library

Salary: £18,316 - £21,190
Hours: 36 hours per week based within the Library Resource Management Team

This post is permanent.

Libraries and educational establishments in Edinburgh serve diverse communities and are located across the City. As part of the Library Resource Management Team you will provide support by contributing to the organisation and supply of resources and information to our library and educational customers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible team player to join us.

The successful candidate will be involved in day-to-day tasks such as using online library management systems, assisting customers, issuing and returning items, checking and repairing resources, processing invoices and forms, preparing, receipting and handling deliveries, lifting and carrying resources, helping with projects and events.
The post requires excellent customer care, organisational skills, attention to detail and team working. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.

You will normally be based at Information and Learning Resources, Craigmillar or Central Library, but may be asked to work in other Library or educational locations on occasion. The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm and Friday 8.30am to 3.55pm.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
