Technical Performance Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Near Watford, Hertfordshire

Division: UK&I - Power Plant Optimisation

An exciting opportunity to work within an industry-leading developer, constructor and operator of renewable energy projects, with a firm, that is co-managing £1.7bn FTSE-listed renewable fund with investments in wind, solar & energy storage projects in northern Europe.

You/the Technical Performance Engineer will provide data analysis expertise to the Asset Management team, with the aim of maximising generation and profit for the asset owners and the company by ensuring the efficient operation of power plants. You will be analysing operational data, proposing methods for reducing lost production and identifying performance improvement opportunities, as well as developing the way we carry out this service by improving their analysis techniques.

Key Accountabilities

Analyse operational data, identify technical performance issues and risks, and recommend corrective actions.

Provide general technical support to operational wind farm management teams

Build, manage and improve engineering models to analyse data in order to accurately report on performance and detect changes in behaviour of the operating assets

Liaise with in-house and external consultants

Continually assess the value of analyses and recommended actions

Research, evaluate and recommend methods to improve performance of generating plant

You will have the following Skills:

Investigative nature- naturally inquisitive, proactive, solution focussed and has sense of ownership on work

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

Excellent problem solving skills

Programming in Python essential

Ability to handle several projects and high workloads with demanding timescales

Ability to work as part of a team, influencing decisions and reacting positively to challenges

Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective discussion and transfer of information between areas of the business, site teams, contractors and clients

Strong reporting and presentation skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office packages

Experience & Qualifications

Demonstrable experience of continuous improvement and engineering model development

Experience in data analytics

Experience in, or detailed knowledge of, renewable energy project design and component functionality

Degree qualified mechanical or electrical engineer, or similar science subject
