This role sits within the core software development team, and will bridge the gap between the Core Software Development Team and the customer and will play a key part in scaling the software through a variety of global deployments.

The is not a software developer role.

This is a new role and one which will play a key part in the ambitious scaling of this software platform into new clients and geographies. The purpose of this role is to bridge the gap between the Core Software development team, and the future remote development teams in different locations.

Key responsibilities:
  • Design: to work collaboratively with development and test team during the development phase of insurance products to ensure that software developed has an appropriate level of configurability.
  • Documentation:to produce and maintain detailed documentation of all software configuration settings. This will include descriptions of the purpose and settings of each configuration function and the software behaviours driven by the configuration settings.
  • Support: once a system is deployed in production, the role will act as the technical lead for all configuration support queries and incident resolution and will drive efficient processes for making configuration changes.

Other duties and tasks:

As this is a small, core software team there may be other additional duties and responsibilities that occasionaly arise such as participating in design and testing of system functions not directly related to configuration.

Over time, and with the direct input of the successful candidate, this role will morph into one which will include more training as the developed software is deployed worldwide,

The role will include training of other configuration staff, both in the UK and overseas, on how to use the software configuration settings. This training may involve occasional overseas travel (once or twice a year)

Experience required:
  • The successful candidate will most likely come from an IT technical background within a financial services / insurance software development team, but not a developer.
  • Sound understanding of insurance or financial service products and data related processes.
  • Prior experience of working in or with insurance or financial services software development teams, particularly in testing roles.

Desirable:
  • Proven experience and track record in agile software development and lifecycle methodologies

  • Adaptable and able to work in small team and pressurised environment - flexible and able to get the job done.
  • Serious about success, motivated and driven to succeed.
  • Assertive: Able to challenge software developers and management when needed to ensure that the software configuration tools are usable and fit for purpose.
  • Able to communicate clearly and persuasively, both verbally when presenting to a group, and in writing.
