Based in Barnwood, Gloucester we are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our finance department for an initial FTC period of 6 months. You will work for a global Telecommunications company ensuring all reporting and financial analysis is inline and reported accurately.

Purpose & scope

Responsible for performing various accounting functions in a timely and accurate manner in support of the accounting department; including posting and verifying entries into the general ledger, maintaining accounting records; journal entries and account reconciliations, assisting in month end closing, and other duties as assigned.

Essential functions of role

Accounting Functions
  • Assist in performing various accounting functions in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to corporate departmental policies and procedures and updating manager on issues, timetables, and status of each function
  • Perform a variety of accounting tasks which include: calculating, posting and verifying financial data for use in maintaining accounting records for assigned business segments
  • Prepare and enter month end journal entries and assist in month end closing
  • Assist with departmental projects as assigned
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested, ensuring all reports are completedaccurately and according to designated timelines

Accounting Policies/Procedures
  • Know and support approved accounting and departmental policies and procedures including keeping up-to-date on internal controls concerning accounting functions
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of inquiries releasing only information allowed under department policies and procedures

Report Preparation
  • Generate reports as requested
  • Conduct research and compile data for report preparation
  • Prepare reports, identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Distribute reports as requested by manager

Team Interfaces/Customer Service
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship with internal/external customers, team members and department contacts

Education & training
  • CIMA/ACCA part qualified or qualified through experience

skills & knowledge
  • Suitable experience in an accounting environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Basic knowledge of MS Outlook and MS Word

  • Working knowledge of US/UK GAAP
  • Experience of integration company acquisitions
