Were looking for a category development manager to join us and champion the needs of our customers during the category planning process. As a category development manager, youll collaborate with all kinds of people from across our retail business, supporting and shaping the category planning process. Well look to you to be a trusted business partner, providing expert advice to your colleagues as well as improving relationships with our external suppliers. Youll have a rare opportunity to shape the future of the customer offering in our stores, gaining insight from data to make sure were making business decisions that will benefit our customers, members, and colleagues.
What youll do
\* work collaboratively with internal business partners, building on relationships and exploring ways of improving processes
\* be involved in all category planning for your area, planning and reviewing the commercial delivery of products to our stores
\* analyse and review data around promotions, pricing and product development using insight to drive customerled thinking
\* explore new products to introduce to the Coop and build existing brands
\* use insight technology such as Nielsen, Kantar and ISI to access data, pull reports and provide valuable insight to the business
\* carry out line management duties for one direct report
\* manage relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners at various levels
This role would suit people who have
\* previous experience in a category management role
\* experience in FMCG Supply base or food retail
\* an analytical mindset and experience of working with complex data
\* proficient use of data insight tools such as Nielsen, Kantar or ISI
\* intermediate ability with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
\* the ability to engage with and influence multiple internal and external business partners
\* confidence to comfortably communicate with colleagues at all levels
\* previous line management experience would be beneficial
\* experience in project management, or using JDA (specifically the category management suite) would be beneficial
