Bridge College are a specialist FE college based in Openshaw, Manchester. They meet the needs of students up to the age of 25 years with learning difficulties and disabilities, complex needs, communication disorders and autism. Our specialist teams are able to support students to achieve their aspirations and to develop a range of essential skills for learning, living and work. We are currently recruiting for a work experience placement officer to join our successful work experience team to ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve their aspirations.

As our Work Experience Placement Officer...

As our Work Experience Placement Officer, you will co-ordinate work experience opportunities to enable students with profound and multiple learning difficulties to gain appropriate practical skills in the work place and to enhance curriculum with appropriate visits and opportunities for the development of social skills. You will seek out and arrange work experience for all students in accordance with their long term aspirations, remove barriers to learning which prevent young people accessing the world of work. You will act as a representative for the college whilst dealing with employers and partners involved and ensure relevant health and safety checks are carried out correctly in line with policies and procedures.

You will also have the opportunity to be trained to fully assess each environment putting plans in place to support each student.

About You...

You are caring, passionate, positive, professional and supportive - looking to make a real difference to our pupil's lives. Experience is essential along with the relevant level 3 or equivalent qualification. You should be motivated by the success of our students and be creative in your planning. You will receive extensive training and have the opportunity to access different courses and training.

We follow a robust safer recruitment process and all successful applicants will go through recruitment checks. If you're successful we'll need you to have an enhanced DBS check. For all roles we'll also need a minimum of three references. Depending on the role you apply for, we might also need to request references from each employer where you have worked with young people or vulnerable adults.

We'll also need to know about any breaks in your employment history with evidence from documents like birth certificates or passports. If you're successful and have worked outside the UK for any longer than three months in the last five years, we'd also need to complete a foreign DBS or code of conduct check.
