Clinical Advisor - Cancer Treatment Guidance & Support
Basing View, Basingstoke, Hampshire + Some Travel
Circa £45,000 + Contributory pension scheme, life assurance, ongoing CPD, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, modern comfortable office facilities close to town centre
Working hours 9am – 5.30pm and open to discussion around 4 or 5 days per week.

Every idea starts out as a problem. Ours was simple. The healthcare system is complex and confusing at the best of times. When time is of the essence, figuring out where to get the right care or support and how to get everything organised can quickly become overwhelming. This is what we’ve set out to fix.
Currently our customers are employers and insurance companies, and our clients are people with cancer and their nominated representatives.
Our Client Support Team engages with clients over the phone, through our online portal and accompanying them to appointments.

What you will do…
Ensure we provide exceptional care navigation services and always operate within clear clinical boundaries. Help lead our healthcare revolution!
Be the Clinical Lead for our Client Support Team, providing support and oversight:
+ Provide input on Clinical Governance and participate in Clinical Governance forums
+ Build good working relationships with Clinical Governance advisors; seeking advice on appropriate courses of action in supporting clients
+ Ensure professional and effective work practices of the Client Support Team
+ Offer clinical support to the wider business to help with business development, customer account management and project implementation
+ Initiate and maintain excellent working relationships with our customers, clients, client representatives, clinician network and providers
+ Follow appropriate reporting mechanisms and structures in relation to any incident or complaint in-line with professional accountability and company policy
+ Keep your own knowledge up-to-date and relevant with appropriate CPD, and ensure that the Client Support Team complete appropriate CPD
+ Develop and deliver training materials for the Client Support Team
+ Help identify, attract and recruit staff with the appropriate skill sets for the delivery of our care navigation services
Be accountable for delivering fit-for-purpose care navigation services, through audit and review:
+ Always act to protect the interests and safety of clients and their representatives
+ Ensure that care navigation services meet client expectations, are compliant with best practice procedures, and are subject to continuous improvement
+ Ensure that trusted and credible sources are used for all clinical, emotional or practical information provided to clients by the Client Support Team
+ Ensure we have the necessary clinical procedures and policies to support our business growth ambitions
+ Act as a point of support and escalation for clinical queries within the Client Support Team
+ Own and manage a robust quality assurance framework for the Client Support Team to improve performance and mitigate risks, especially in relation to clinical understanding
What are we looking for?
+ a 1st level registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register, with a minimum of Dip/HE but desirable would be BSC(hons) applied health studies or equivalent
+ excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
+ good IT skills with the aptitude to learn more
+ the ability to take a strategic approach when required whilst maintaining attention to detail
+ a desire to step away from the pressure, constraints and paperwork that traditional nursing brings
+ evidence of continuing CPD, especially in supporting people with cancer
+ experience of developing and implementing guidelines and projects from start to completion
+ a self-starter with a track record of developing innovative care services
+ an approachable but assertive leadership style
+ someone qualified and experienced in supporting people with cancer
+ an in-depth understanding of cancer, its treatment and impacts on those affected by it
+ a keen interest in remaining up-to-date with innovation within the wider cancer landscape
+ a good understanding of cancer pathways and cancer/medical terminology
+ experience in developing and delivering awareness and training programmes within the field of cancer
+ experience in leading a nurse team and providing coaching to nurses and support staff
