The opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse with relevant experience to join this specialist hospital in Cheshire as Deputy Ward Manager on the Adult Acute Ward. The ward cares for both men and women who have a range of mental health illness and are showing risk of violence, aggression or suicide. You will be experienced working with acutely ill patients with complex and enduring mental health diagnoses and have demonstrable experience leading a team.

As Deputy Ward Manager (RMN) you will be competent across a range of skills and have a clear understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983. You will lead by example and provide support to those in crisis, offering therapeutic engagement during the inpatient stay. You will work closely with members of the specialist multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the individual.

Responsibilities for the Deputy Ward Manager - RMN:
  • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for all parties
  • Carrying out comprehensive risk assessments and the continued management
  • Identifying any deficits in staffing levels and taking measures to address
  • Implementing and monitoring therapeutic interventions within the care program to assist with the development of coping strategies
  • Applying relevant policies and statutory requirements within the ward and hospital framework of governance
  • Acting as a role model to promote a positive culture and team vision

Deputy Ward Manager (RMN) must have:
  • Registered Nurse qualified (RMN)
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Up to date clinical experience
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and latest nursing practices
  • Current and valid registration with the NMC and a legal right to work in the UK
