IT Project Manager

The main responsibilities of the IT Project Manager are to ensure that IT projects are planned, organized, resourced and efficiently completed. As Project Manager, you will be managing a variety of IT projects ranging in size from small, mid and large-scale projects with rapid timelines. You will participate in all phases of the project lifecycle with primary responsibilities on project planning, requirements and data gathering, facilitation of design and testing discussions, and coordinating tasks involving dependencies within cross-functional teams. Additional responsibilities include creation and distribution of project documentation, identifying project dependencies, risks and issues, developing an understanding of the technical/business aspects of the project and managing internal client relationships.

  • Prepares and maintains project and quality plans and tracks activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to the IT Management, IT PMO and project stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Ensures that the change control process is actively used to manage the effect of changes to the live environment.
  • Manages the relationship with project sponsors and steering committees and ensures appropriate status-information is available and visible to interested parties within the business.
  • Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and manages deviations from agreed tolerances. Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.
  • Facilitates project meetings and drives project deliverables.
  • Ensures that effective relationships are built and maintained with and across business units.
  • Travel may be required from time to time.
  • Delegates roles and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Serves as subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives
  • Identifies resource issues and conflicts within project teams

Relevant knowledge, skills and competencies:
  • University degree at Bachelor level or higher in Computer Sciences or similar/equivalent industry experience
  • Experience with both infrastructure, systems development and systems implementation projects
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in project management within a technology environment with demonstrated growth and understanding of processes and methodologies
  • Experience as a Liaison between IT and Business professionals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business process modeling
  • Experienced in Project methodologies, project planning procedures, processes, and overall project life cycle with an emphasis on project management skills
  • Proven experience with IT Infrastructure related projects

  • Must be able to effectively interact with all levels of personnel within an organization.
  • Demonstrated use of project management tools, including MS Office suite, PowerPoint, Visio, MS SharePoint and MS Project
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross-functional team meetings
  • Flexibility during times of change
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Persuasive, encouraging and motivating
  • Preferred
  • Qualification in Project management methodology eg. PRINCE2 or PMP
