The last two years have proven successful seeing 80% of their graduate Teaching Assistants moving into teacher training or continuing in their support role. As a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide Literacy and Numeracy intervention and booster sessions for small groups of pupils, whilst supporting the class teacher and the class overall.

Whilst this Graduate Teaching Assistant post will mainly be based within Key Stage 1, there will also be opportunity to build experience across both key stages and you will be required to be flexible in order to support the schools varying and changing needs. This is challenging but rewarding role and you will be working in a vibrant, evolving school where no two days are the same; the best possible start to your career in teaching.

This Graduate Teaching Assistant post would give you the opportunity to work alongside many skilled and talented practitioners, and you would be fully guided and supported in the role. It will be your responsibility to build strong relationships with staff and pupils to work as an effective team, as your skills, knowledge and confidence grow you will be guided through more advanced teaching methods, lesson planning and behaviour management.

Graduate Teaching Assistant - Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leading 1:1 or small group sessions for students focusing on numeracy and literacy.

• Working alongside the SENCO to plan and deliver stimulating intervention sessions designed to raise attainment levels.

• Helping to implement individualised learning strategies in line with agreed Education Healthcare Plans for students with Special Educational Needs.

• Prepare and develop effective resources for intervention sessions.

• Exam revision sessions | Year 6 SATS preparation.

• Track and report on student progress.

• Attend departmental meetings and support the schools needs where necessary, including planning and supervising extra-curriculum activities.
