Right now we have a brand new opportunity for an Engineering Team Leader to join our Packaging team in Northampton. In this role you, and your team of multiskilled shift engineering team members, will be responsible for the safe and hygienic deployment of shift engineering activities across the packaging departments to include all routine, preventative and corrective maintenance activity. In addition, you will hold the following accountabilities:
  • Act as the 1st point of contact for engineering shift personnel and ensure the safe management of the engineering shift
  • Responsible for the ordering of relevant replacement parts and consumables required by shift members that are not managed by the departments MRO procurement function
  • Responsible for the supervision of all relevant maintenance contract activity conducted on shift
  • Responsible for the appropriate reporting of engineering activity and coordination of shift handovers
  • Responsible for conducting training needs analysis on shift team members to ensure that appropriate certification is maintained and capability maximised

Suitable candidates will have extensive experience and a solid understanding of managing an engineering shift maintenance team, and the associated planning within a packaging environment. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to engineering maintenance is also essential as is a commitment to Lean TPM and continuous improvement. We are looking for individuals with a collaborative attitude, exceptional communication skills and an engaging, inspiring approach. Ability to drive and support change is a must, as is a results driven, customer/consumer focus.

Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline or significant experience and a proven record of managing shift engineering in an FMCG Company is a key requirement along with knowledge and experience of applying Lean TPM tools and techniques, key standards in Quality, Health, Safety and Environment and good IT literacy skills.
