Our client is looking for a new Business Fleet Underwriter to join their team in West Malling.

Your role focusses on underwriting and servicing existing accounts. You will use your sound knowledge and discernment to evaluate existing business; whilst chipping in to the income and profit of the business. The team are searching for a real teammate who will share knowledge, take accountability and deliver their share of the workload. If you thrive in an encouraging environment and have the skills to achieve, this role could be right for you. Their core products are (Commercial Combined, Property Owners, Motor Fleet)

Role / Responsibilities:
  • You can handle renewal, rating and adjustment enquiries generated from the allocated client portfolio and also cover requests, referring if required.
  • You know the achievements and goals that you'll be working towards and you will champion these during your everyday working. We're a positive and focussed business, goals are important to us.
  • Your skill will lie in persuading your Clients to remain with us and contacting brokers. You'll seek further opportunities to upsell/cross sell across our product range.
  • You will utilise your first class communication skills to develop important relationships with insurers, key clients and brokers. This will be your priority.
  • It's a varied role which will have you handling accounts queries, liaising with brokers, compiling statistics as required by Technical Underwriters and checking policy documents prior to issue - you'll need a keen eye for detail.
  • Take case referrals from underwriters and assistant underwriters
  • Offer coaching & development to underwriters and assistant underwriters as and when required

Person Specification:
  • You would benefit from having a deep understanding of the methods of rating as applied to our product; including the principal of claims triangulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of underwriting experience in our core product offerings (Motor Fleet). You'll utilize your technical knowledge to handle claim queries ensuring a connected service for your client.
  • Experience of planning and prioritising client renewals and identifying business opportunities
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues during account cycles
  • Attention and accuracy to detail in data entry and presenting data
  • Takes accountability of managing risk and safe-guards own role remit
  • Able to use standard MS office products being Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint & relevant IT systems for the business unit
