Organisation Description

An established construction company who specialise in fit-outs & refurbishments are seeking a Financial Controller to join their business. If you have experience as a fully Qualified Financial Controller within the Construction industry and have the confidence to take charge from the first day and make this role your own, this could be the perfect role for you.

Job Description

Your day to day role will include:

• Overall responsibility of accounting function for the company

• Manage the accounts team and provide support to the Directors, Contract teams, HR and Office Manager

• Preparation of sales invoices for payment certificates and debtor chasing

• Cashflow forecasting weekly and updating spreadsheets utilising accounting software and other information including weekly bank reconciliations

• Preparation of divisional monthly management accounts, KPIs and bank submissions

• Preparation of overhead schedules, accruals and prepayments

• Monthly payroll for hourly and monthly paid staff for payroll submission to HMRC via RTI

• Submission of monthly workplace pension file from payroll

• Preparation of P11d's

• Preparation of Audit files and liaison with external auditors

• Quarterly VAT returns

• Covering when required for accounts team functions e.g. Purchase Ledger, Payment Runs, subcontractor ledger and agency subcontractor labour

• Training accounts team and ensuring suitable controls are in place

• Ad hoc reports to assist commercial claims and project and tasks as required

Person Specification

You will be/have:

• A qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA);

• Previous experience working within the construction industry

• Demonstrated experience managing a finance function in a Financial Controller capacity ideally within construction or fit-out & refurbishment field

• Strong experience working with Accounting software packages, experience with CyberQube would be highly advantageous

• Able to work under your own initiative as part of a busy team and have a proven track record in problem solving

• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft IT suite, in particular Excel

• Operate with a hands-on approach and provide cover to accounts team functions

• Prior experience managing and motivating teams
