Super commercial role, within a large but friendly IT / Telco company, for an analytical accountant with strong Excel skills. You will use these strong Excel skills to create financial models and detailed product analysis to forecast product trends and forecast future revenue and margins. My client will look at PQs (full study support offered) - QBE's or fully qualifieds from either commerce or practice.

Key responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a financial forecast/budgeting model
  • Analysis of customer / channel partner profitability
  • Review of profitability for each product group
  • Identify useful product reporting metrics and develop/enhance the current product reporting to incorporate additional metrics where these would benefit the business
  • Work with the regulatory team to understand the cost base in the Revenue and Margin report on a product by product basis and reconcile to costs included in the management accounts. Also, anticipate changes in the cost base and their effect on budgets and sales forecasts.
  • Monthly product reporting for the divisional board pack
  • In conjunction with the Financial Accountant - the preparation of budgets and forecasts and analysis of performance against those budgets.
  • Business partner with cost centre managers to assist them in managing and budgeting costs for their business areas. This will involve producing bespoke analysis which can be easily understood by non-financial managers to enable their decision-making process.
  • Other ad hoc projects which may include analysis and reporting in relation to other parts of the business, or at a Group level.
  • Liaise with auditors during year end audit and half year review
  • Design, testing and improving internal controls which may involve a little travel to other UK office locations
  • Supporting the products team on budget inputs

Skills and experience
  • Experience in Financial Modelling in Excel is essential
  • Knowledge of SQL would be beneficial (or an interest to learn)
  • Experience analysing large quantities of data and providing summary information to both financial and non-financial individuals
  • Strong time management skills to ensure deadlines are met and be able to thrive in an environment where you are trusted to be work smart and work hard without micro management
  • Experience of UKGAAP and IFRS
  • Awareness of financial standards and financial reporting developments
  • Experience of the IT/Telecoms sector would be useful (either having worked within it or been a professional adviser to businesses within it).

To apply please email in your CV with a covering note to support your application. Please detail why you are looking for a new challenge and what your current salary and expectations are, along with your notice period.
