Swan Retail is a boutique software house based in Waterlooville, Hampshire, with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Project Manager to join the team.

Specialising in the Retail market, we offer a comprehensive solution covering software, hardware and services for all aspects of a retail business such as Tills (EPoS), Stock Management, Accounts, Customer Ordering, Warehousing, Web Integration and Mobile.

We have developed software and hardware services for more than 25 years now and continue to grow in markets including Garden Centres, Department Stores and Furniture Stores.

About the Opportunity

Swan Retail are currently looking for a Finance Project Manager to join the team and handle all aspects of management and control, of both internal and customer projects.

From ensuring project documents are complete, current and appropriately stored to interpreting customer requirements and communicating back to the development team, this is a truly end-to-end project management role.

You will be:
  • Responsible for creating and delivering project plans using project planning software provided, revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Identifying resources, assigning responsibilities and managing the day-to-day operational aspects of the project
  • Working with developers and designers to define and document questions, liaising with both staff and customers to get new requirements and explain feasibility
  • Submitting project status reports to customers and internally to management
  • Identifying improvements within the accounting software, liaising with development to deliver key changes to the software
  • Keeping up to date with relevant accounting standards and HMRC rules
  • Delivering accounts focussed training and support to customers

This position will be office based but due to customer locations all over the UK and Eire, you may be required to travel, sometimes at short notice.

About you:
  • Ideally have experience of retail computer systems
  • Understand the day to day running of a retail business, from point of sale to back office stock management, and particularly accounting
  • Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) would be desirable
  • Experience of using an integrated finance system such as SAP
  • Detailed understanding of double entry accounting and accounting processes such as invoice matching, VAT returns, bank reconciliations, etc.
  • Confident in dealing with customers at all levels and present a professional image to all stakeholders
  • Highly organised
  • Ability to actively listen, coach and mentor others
  • Good interpersonal and persuasion skills
  • Excellent judgement in decision making
  • Accurate time management and precise recording of time and expenses.

A professional project management qualification would be desirable, however we would be happy to provide support and training for the successful candidate.
